1) Open Topic: Addressing a Gap in Service-Learning Research September 2, 2005
Seeking new scholarship that may inform and inspire service-learning research, practice, policy, leadership and/or funding as it relates to K-12 education, with particular focus on addressing a gap or unanswered question in service-learning research.
2) Civic Education/Participation September 2, 2005
Seeking exploration of issues and/or outcomes connected to civic education curriculum and citizenship development.
3) K-12 and Higher Education Connections October 14 , 2005
Scholarship probing the relationship or intersections between K-12 and Higher Education service-learning research, practice, and/or policy.
4) Teacher Education October 14 , 2005
Scholarship on pre-service or in-service teacher education, with focus on pedagogical approaches and impact on teacher practices and student learning, contexts of teacher education, and other professional development issues that have a bearing on the understanding and adoption of service-learning in K-12 education.
5) Intercultural/Multicultural Issues December 2, 2005
Seeking scholarship that addresses issues related to race, ethnicity, social class, gender, age, ability, national origin etc. and other aspects of intercultural or multicultural education critical to the preparation of self-reflective, culturally aware, and community responsive participants.
6) International Conference on Service-Learning Research December 2, 2005
Recognition of scholarship excellence among conference presenters. This is an open paper topic but should have a bearing on the understanding and adoption of service-learning in K-12 education.
7) Innovations in Curriculum/Disciplinary Integration January 27, 2006
Seeking scholarship exploring innovative curriculum/disciplinary design, development, and integration that has a bearing on the understanding and adoption of service-learning in K-12 education.
8) Teacher Research January 27, 2006
Seeking scholarship generated by K-12 teachers who conceptualize, design, implement and assess service-learning projects.
9) Rising Scholars March 17, 2006
This is an open paper topic but should have a bearing on the understanding and adoption of service-learning in K-12 education. Open to undergraduate or graduate students who have not earned degrees any earlier than spring 2005.
10) Emergent Issues and Priorities March 17, 2006
Seeking research-based and significant conceptual papers that expand our understanding of emerging issues and priorities affecting the implementation and/or sustainability of service-learning in K-12 education.
